The Wind Down With Nordicllar

The first in our Wind Down series, where we chat with creative people who inspire us. 

We've been followers of Nordicllar since before we launched Bedfolk. With their beautiful imagery and Scandi interiors, we thought they were the perfect people to sit down with for a chat about their home, their lives and their bedtime routines.

Irene is a wedding videographer from Barcelona, who in 2016 bought her first home in Wiltshire with her partner Sammy. They set up Nordicllar (which translates to Nordic home in Catalan) to share their love of interiors and document their home journey.

Owl or lark?

We’re both night owls (but desperately wish we were larks as we’d probably get so much more done!)

Our morning routine looks something like…

Although we both film weddings together at the weekends, Sammy works in Marketing & Graphic Design in the week so most of the time he gets up about 15 minutes before he has to leave the house while I always make the most of my 5 (or 10) extra minutes in bed. Perks of being self-employed! I then slowly get ready and make coffee before starting work for the day.

Our favourite breakfast spot is…

If we could only pick one spot it would definitely be the terrace of one of our favourite bakeries in Barcelona when we go back to visit my parents.

Our perfect lazy Sunday looks like…

A slow morning in bed snuggled under the duvet watching true crime documentaries on Netflix or Queer eye for a dose of feel-good TV.

Our bedroom style is…

Ever since we visited Copenhagen we fell in love with Scandinavian interiors so we’d like to think our style is minimal & simple with a modern twist.

Our go-to brands for Scandi homewares are…

La Redoute, H&M Home, Swoon Editions and Scandinavian Design Centre.

I find inspiration for my Videography work in…

Films! It sounds like an obvious answer but from a very young age I was always intrigued by cinema and filmmaking - the way stories can transport you and make you feel like you belong. My films focus on people and emotions and it’s that human connection that makes you feel invested in a story. I also love finding visual inspiration in art, fashion and interiors.

We’re currently reading…

I’m reading ‘Me before you’ (I’m a sucker for romance!) while Sammy dips in and out of Robert Webb’s ‘How not to be a boy’.

Our bedtime routine looks something like…

As film lovers we spend a lot of time watching movies and documentaries so we never go to sleep without having watched something to wind down before bed. However, at this time of year we can’t avoid tuning into Love Island - everyone’s guilty pleasure!

Our favourite thing about our Bedfolk bedding is…

How soft it is!! We’ve been searching for the perfect bedding for months now and we are so happy we came across Bedfolk. The subtle neutral tones are exactly what we wanted and it fits beautifully with the Scandinavian look that we love.
