Ways To Wind Down This Twixmas

Twixmas derives from the old English phrase ‘betwixt’ which means ‘between’.

It’s those lazy days between Christmas and New Year when outfit changes involve getting into a clean set of PJs, breakfast, lunch and dinner merge into one sizeable feast of festive leftovers, and it’s finally acceptable to stay in bed all day and binge on that Netflix series you’ve been meaning to watch.

But best of all, it’s the perfect opportunity to finally switch off and wind down

With some help from our friends, we share the best ways to spend this Twixmas…

Tejumola Adenuga, Artist

“It would be a combination of reading, grooming myself, cooking and taking a lot of naps. Even more perfect if I find a good television series to binge on. I have been considering getting an indoor mini golf set for a while now, it would be the cherry on top.”

Elspeth Tull, Founder of floral design studio Blume

“A leisurely breakfast, a trip to the local butchers and cooking all afternoon with a glass of wine and an old film on in the background. In another pre-Covid life we would also have our closest friends over.”

Cat Sarsfield, Content & Community Manager at Sonder & Tell

“A cycle on the Quietways or escape to Hampstead Heath for some much-needed time in nature. Then it’s back home to put on a big pot of something low and slow.”

Freyja Ducker, Owner of The Sandy Duck B&B in Falmouth

“I’m so lucky to live in such an incredible part of Cornwall and I love exploring with my family. There’s always more to explore and if we can sneak a wonderful lunch in then I’m in heaven.”

Tor Harrison, Ceramicist and Founder of Toro Studio

“Lie-ins and morning yoga. A night-time bath followed by getting into freshly laundered sheets and reading in bed with a good book… Such a luxury.”
